My husband and I just returned from visiting the in-laws in Iowa and experienced the same thing with United. We would need to “upgrade” our tickets in order to be able to sit together! It happened both ways, so this is no computer glitch. United Airlines is vile and I will never use them again.

Speaking of “locking in long term fuel contacts”, that is exactly what Southwest did and why their airfare is always affordable. They had good vision. Moreover though, Southwest is not only great in terms of customer service but fun on the flight. They always have jokes to ease the tension of flight.

I am actually not all that outraged about Alderman’s Lyle’s $30 magazine subscription to the Communist Party’s propaganda machine; she was honored by the group b/c of her opposition to the 2006 Big Box ordinance and bought a subscription out of reciprocity or something. Negligent but not necessarily corrupt.

But the fact that Alderman Thomas’ paid $1500 to a politically-connected landscaping company to mow that pathetic, dinky strip of grass? That’s insane.

My guess is that tourists are more likely to give panhandlers money than locals. You know, tourists are in high spirits by the mere fact that they’re on vacation.

Locals on the way to work though? “Get outta my way ya bum!!”
